Usain Bolt
Today, Usain Bolt pulled off the Double-Double Olympic Gold medal sprints by winning both the 100m and the 200m in 2 consecutive Olympic games. Jamaica also claimed the silver and bronze medals for the 200m race.
Not only did Bolt spend time before the race talking and joking with olympic workers, he also spent a considerable amount of time walking around the track, talking to fans and taking pictures. As well as this, he also stopped an interview (as he did after his 100m win too) to respect the national anthem of another country.
In my eyes, this man is the pinnacle of sportsmanship and is a top grade athlete.
What do you think of Usain Bolt? And who is your favourite athlete of all time?

Sporting injuries
So today I played a few hours of football and when I came home my feet were shredded and covered in bruises.
The worst sporting injury I ever had was whilst playing rugby when someone spilt my big toe.
What's your worst sporting injuries? Or the worst you have ever seen?

Drunken Responsibility
Today my sisters came home incredibly drunk. My sisters fiancé looked after my sister with the patience of a saint. I tried to help, but after a while it started to annoy me, firstly because I'm younger than them and secondly I just really wasn't in the mood to be looking after drunken people.
What are your views?
If you are sober and a member of your family comes in drunk, do you have an obligation to look after them? Or do you not because have they done it all to themselves?
What would push you over the edge to stop looking after someone?
Have you had any experiences like this?

Honour Killings
In 2003, 17 year old Shafilea Ahmed was murdered by suffocation caused by a plastic bag over her head. The truly sickening part of this horrible case is that Shafilea was killed by her own parents. Not just this, but she was killed in front of her 4 siblings.
Today in court, the jury voted unanimously that her parents, Iftikhar (52) and Farzana (49), we're guilty of first degree murder and sentenced to a minimum of 25 years each.
The jury was told of how Shafilea would not conform to her parents control, and after years of abuse and trying to kill herself by drinking bleach, her arranged marriage (that she did not want to partake in) fell apart, causing her parents to fear shame in the community. It is this shame that they used as justification for the murder of their own child.
What are your views on this?
Is 25 years long enough? Is prison a strong enough punishment?
What did I just see!?

Olympic Walk Out
Today, in the Women's Team Sprint, after missing out on Gold, one of the Chinese pair, Gong Jinjie, apparently walked out of the arena, even though she was due to collect a silver medal. This meant that the medal ceremony was postponed.
Do you think it is right that she still got to collect her medal? Or do you think she should be left medal-less due to her poor response?
Also, how do you feel about the disqualification of the British pair? Fair or not?
